OUR TEAM

Our philosophy here at Lakeside is to provide a personal, professional service by offering current evidence based treatments and rehabilitation to all our clients.

Lakeside prides itself on giving each patient individual care with a comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan to address their problem. We aim to relieve pain and discomfort, improve movement and function and educate through advice, home exercise programmes to allow patients to manage their problem effectively wherever possible.

All physiotherapists at Lakeside are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and members of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).

With many years of post graduate experience the team at Lakeside are well placed to tackle a variety of common and complex conditions, injuries and rehabilitation needs.

Martin Copeland

Having qualified in Remedial Gymnastics and Recreational Therapy in 1977 in Cardiff specialising in applied anatomy, human kinetics and rehabilitation through exercise Martin then studied at Manchester for 2 years enhancing his knowledge and skills and developing manual therapy and electrotherapy techniques.

He worked in Leicester before returning to Staffordshire where he practised at a busy NHS out patients department and was the physiotherapist for Port Vale FC for 4 years.

Martin has extensive experience in the treatment of orthopaedic, sports and musculo skeletal conditions and has developed a special interest in movement impairment syndromes, muscle imbalance, clinical neurodynamics, cervico-genic dysfunctions/headaches, chronic pain and arthritic conditions and gym rehabilitation.

Mike Honey

Having graduated in 1991 from Coventry, Mike has a vast amount of experience having worked within the NHS, for national and international companies and local sports clubs.

He has a passion for sports medicine and has experience working alongside British team athletics, elite golfers and cricketers. He has a hands on approach to physiotherapy and promotes education and injury prevention as his motto. Whilst he also uses acupuncture as a treatment modality Mike has a special interest in muscle imbalance, body control pilates, connective tissue massage and kinesiology taping.

Peter Copeland

Having graduated from the University of Nottingham Peter has returned to the Potteries to continue to develop his skills and expertise in the musculo-skeletal field of physiotherapy. He has a passion for gym rehabilitation, sports injuries, Compex therapy, acupuncture and dry needling (for myofascial trigger points).

Peter also specialises in the assessment and treatment of, hip, knees and ankles and has a special interest in shoulders – injuries, impingement, frozen shoulders, post op rehabilitation, isokinetic testing and biomechanics.

Always looking to expand his knowledge base Peter is currently completing his Masters in advanced physiotherapy.

Geraldine Whitehead

After graduating in 1982 in N. Ireland and working in a major trauma unit. Geraldine then worked in South Africa developing her experience in the field of neurology both as a clinician and tutor.

She has had a passion for neurology and long term rehabilitation for the past 25 years and is a leading physiotherapist in this field. She has presented papers at international conferences and lectures in Europe and the UK. She joined Lakeside in 1996 and has continued to expand and develop her specialism in neurology working and liaising closely with local Consultants, GPs and other Allied Health Professionals.

Gaynor Sanders

Pilates Instructor/Sports Massage Therapist

Gaynor has a Foundation Degree in Complementary Therapy and a Level 3 Matwork Pilates Instructor and Posture Analysis. She has been working alongside the team at Lakeside for the past few years since commencing her Pilates Classes.

Gaynor works closely with the physiotherapists in providing bespoke exercises in both class and individual settings. She compliments this with her sports massages and general massage therapy.

Whilst individual sessions can be booked at Lakeside Clinic, classes are held at various times throughout the week at Bradwell Community Lodge.

Jackie Lawton

The cheerful, friendly face of Lakeside, Jackie has been working here since 1994 and there isn’t anything she doesn’t know about the Clinic! Her efficiency, reliability and sensitivity just some of her attributes make her an integral part of the team. If you need any information or have any queries she will always help and advise.

Simone Copeland

Having originally qualified as a Physiotherapist, Simone now devotes her time to assisting Jackie in the smooth running of the Clinic. Her first hand knowledge and experience as a Physiotherapist provides a useful resource when dealing with clients.

Sheila Ellis

Sheila works alongside Jackie and has a wealth of knowledge surrounding finance and business. An avid SCFC supporter her friendly, calm manner puts clients at ease.
